Now this is the kind of market correction we like. A week since the Shanghai slide, China's main index has clawed back nearly two-thirds of its plunge, the S&P 500 a third and Toronto a half. Could it really be that easy to get back on the global growth and equity bandwagon? Investors with suspicions might want to keep their eye on some key indicators in the weeks to come, including those assessing U.S. housing demand, global industrial activity and Chinese money supply. Robert Sinche, head of foreign exchange and interest rate strategy at Bank of America, says he will look to the national delinquency survey from the Mortgage Bankers Association for an indication of whether the troubles in the U.S. subprime lending market will seep into more robust mortgage and credit markets.
Activists split over new 'Day Without an Immigrant'
NORTH COUNTY ---- Immigrant rights activists from Los Angeles say they plan to repeat last May's "Day Without an Immigrant" boycott in which many immigrants passed on work and school to protest what they called unfair immigration proposals, but local activists say a second such protest may not be a good idea.Local activists for the immigrant community are still considering whether they would participate in another national day of protest. But other state and national figures, including Dolores Huerta, a leading Latino rights activist who co-founded the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez, say they would not support a boycott. One of the main concerns among those opposing this year's boycott is fear of a backlash against the community. Some say a boycott could lead to workers losing their jobs, students being expelled and further emphasizing critics' views of Latinos as outsiders.

HONG KONG (AP): Most Asian markets rose Wednesday, as Hong Kong shares gained and Japanese stocks rose to their highest in more than six years, helped by an overnight rally on Wall Street. Philippine shares surged to their highest level in nearly a decade. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index rose for a fourth session, adding 131.19 points, or 0.74 percent, to 17,752.64 -- its highest close since May 9, 2000. Traders said players are awaiting Japan's gross domestic product data for the October-December period, due Thursday, to gauge the possibility of an interest rate increase. Technology and steel stocks were the gainers. Tokyo Electron Ltd. surged 3.31 percent to 8,750 yen (US$72.31) and JFE Holdings Inc. added 0.28 percent to 7,180 yen (US$59.34). In Hong Kong, the benchmark Hang Seng index rose 77.66 points, or 0.4 percent, to 20,209.91.
Negotiations on the agenda to purchase Holt house
Each year the Murray County Board of Commissioners sign an agreement with the State of Minnesota for a Snowmobile Trail Assistance Program. The agreement gives the county grant money for maintaining the trails.
Representatives from the American Cancer Society presented a Proclamation signed by the board proclaiming March 5 - 11 Daffodils in Murray County.
A grant proposal by Chris Hansen and Mike Bambrick was given a letter of support to the southwest Initiative Foundation called the VALSPAR Minnesota Beautiful Program. This program would provide paint or help the county complete restoration and beautification projects. Hansen will apply for up to 60 gallons of paint for fairground buildings. County staff and volunteers would apply the paint.
The last water sampling done on Beaver Creek was in 2004.
